Located within
San Mateo County California, the 4,000 acre Año Nuevo State
Reservation is the site of the largest mainland breeding colony in the
world for the northern elephant seal. A low, rocky, windswept point
which juts out into the Pacific Ocean, Año Nuevo SR sits just 5 miles
south of San Francisco and the Golden Gate. Offering a Visitor Center
with bookstore, restrooms, drinking water and picnic area, Año Nuevo
