Camping in the Wild: Adventure Like No New York Hotel Can Offer

Arkansas is a great place for everyone who loves camping. You can find 28 state parks that feature camping sites in Arkansas and most park camp-sites are amidst the beautiful natural scenery and geological diversity so common in the region. With this variety it's easy for everyone to pick the style of campsite that suits your needs and tastes the better. Campsites range from bare-bones hike-in tent sites to modern campgrounds that include many conveniences like water, electric outlets and sewer hookups as well as things like picnic tables, grills and lantern hangers for illumination. Some campgrounds also include modern and comfortable bath-houses with an array of hot showers and flush toilets that will make you forget that you're not relaxing at chic New York hotel. Something to keep in mind is that, although the state parks in Arkansas are open throughout the year, some facilities will close on certain days of the week or during entire seasons. The best way to plan for this is to check with the park (or parks) you are interested in visiting.

Most camping facilities work by reservation or on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can book your reservation by several means like phone, website or by visiting the park centre during the business hours. These reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance of your arrival at the camping site, which might be useful if you know in advance the time you'll be taking your holiday. Before you actually occupy the campsite, Arkansas' state parks require you to register at the park visitor centre. Depending on your needs and availability, you may be assigned a particular site you requested provided that it can accommodate you and your gear. All camp-sites have an 8 person maximum, although this doesn't include day-time guests so you can invite your friends for a relaxing afternoon.

Be warned, however, that although the state parks welcome pets, they must be kept on a leash, caged or in some way restrained to both protect them and avoid disturbing the other park visitors and campers. It goes without saying, but pet litter must be cleaned up continuously by their owner (and properly bagged) and deposited in the conveniently located trash cans. For your next holiday you might want to skip on that cookie cutter stay at the Boston Hotels (even the great ones like these) and head out into the wild to have your very own adventure.
