Available for both hiking and horseback
riding, the 4.6 mile Grouse Lake Trail is reached from the trailhead by
following a dirt road through pastureland for about 0.24 mile where the
road turns left. The trail begins here and continues straight before
reaching a fork where West Grouse Trail goes right. Staying left on Grouse
Lake Trail continue on to cross Grouse Creek on two logs at 1.3 miles.
Crossing water 6 times, Grouse Lake Trail's final climb brings you into
Holy Cross Wilderness and to Grouse Lake at the foot of Grouse Mountain. To reach Grouse Lake Trail from
Vail Colorado, travel west along I-70 to exit 171 for Minturn and Highway
24. Turn right onto Highway 24 and continue south for about a mile to the
trailhead on the right side, across form the Meadow Mountain Business Park.
