Missouri Lakes Trail #2003

Available for both hiking and horseback
riding, Missouri Lakes Trail travels 2.7 miles to the first lake, 4 miles
to Missouri Pass and 4.4 miles to Fancy Pass Trail. Crossing the creek at
the mouth of a miniature canyon in just over a mile, Missouri Lakes Trail
reaches a side trail (left) at 2.7 miles which leads to the first of the 2
lakes. The main trail traverses the basin past several other lakes before
reaching the last lake at about 3.5 miles. To reach Missouri Lakes Trail from
Vail Colorado, travel west along I-70 to exit #171 for Minturn, Leadville,
and Highway 24. Turn right onto Highway 24 and travel south for 13 miles to
Homestake Road #703. Turn right onto Homestake Road and continue past
Gold Park Campground to mile 8.5. Turn right onto Missouri Creek Road
#704 and continue 3 miles to the dirt road to a "T" at 10,200'. Turn left,
the trailhead will be on the right.
