White River National Forest
Beginning at a junction with Turret Creek Trail and ending
at the junction with Johnny Meyers Trail, the 2 mile Nellie's Trail is a
popular trail for horseback riders. Great views of Sweetwater
Lake, Sweetwater Canyon, Shingle and Turret Peaks, and the snow-capped
mountain ranges beyond are available as Nellie's Trail travels up the
slope. To reach Nellie's Trail from Eagle
Colorado, travel about 13 miles along I-70 to the Dotsero exit and follow
signs for Sweetwater/Burns by turning north onto Colorado River Road.
Continue along Colorado River Road for 7 miles to Sweetwater Creek Road.
Turn left onto Sweetwater Creek Road and travel 11.5 miles. To access the
trailhead travel up to Hilltop Ranch and throught the gate, travel along
Turret Creek trail for 0.5 miles, take a right at the fork crossing the
creek.
