Eagle County Colorado Cross Country Ski Trails
|
White River National Forest
Available for both Cross Country Skiing,
Snowshoeing, and Snowmobile (until last 0.2 mile) the 4.56
mile Grouse Lake Trail follows a dirt road for the first 0.25 miles until
the road curves left with Grouse Lake Trail continuing straight to a
junction at 0.7 miles. At this point the longer West Grouse Creek Trail
travels to the right while Grouse Lake Trail travels left. Traveling along
Grouse Creek, Grouse Lake Trail crosses the water 6 times and offers
several steeper sections as it climbs into the Holy Cross Wilderness and
on to Grouse Lake. To reach Grouse Lake Trail from
Vail Colorado, travel west along I-70 to exit 171 for Minturn Colorado,
Leadville and Highway 24. Turn right onto Highway 24 and travel south about
a mile to the trailhead parking lot on the right.
