White River National Forest
Although 4WD recommended, Clinetop Road is passable with
2WD during dry conditions. Clinetop Road ascends for 10 miles to the top
of the mesa.
To reach Clinetop Road, travel east from Rifle Colorado to
the town of New Castle and turn right onto 7th Street. This street becomes
Buford New Castle Road #245. Continue for 3.5 miles to Main Elk Creek #243
and turn right. Travel along Main Elk Creek past the forest boundary via
the Clinetop Road.
