Grizzly Trailhead to Pitchpine Trailhead

Available for 4WD & motorcycles (some
restrictions), hiking, biking and horseback riding,
the 8 mile Grizzly Helena Trail (Grizzly Trailhead to Pitchpine Trailhead)
begins at Grizzly Trailhead near Beaver Creek and travels north to Helena
trailhead, the North Fork of the North Platte River. This section of the
trail provides access to the Aqua Fria Lake Road, which is closed to
vehicles over 40'' (ATV's & motorcycles are allowed up to the lake). |

Traveling north from Grizzly
Trailhead, Grizzly Helena Trail fords the creek and travels through a stand
of lodgepole pine. Climbing gradually Grizzly Helena Trail intersects the
Aqua Fria Road. Travel along Aqua Fria Road west for a short distance to
where Grizzly Helena Trail takes off again to the north. Within several
miles, this trail intersects the popular Rainbow Lakes Trail and then
continues to Norris Creek.Grizzly Helena Trail offers 2 access points:
- Take CR 24 west from Highway 14 at Hebron to the Grizzly Creek
Guardstation. Continue west along FR 60 and turn right onto FR 615, just
past Grizzly Creek Campground. Continue north past Teal Lake Campground
to the Grizzly Trailhead at the end of the road.
- Travel along CR 12W from Highway 125-14 near Walden to CR 18, turn
right onto CR 5 for a short way and then at Delaney Butte Lakes turn
left onto CR 20. Continue to the forest boundary.
