Available for hiking, and horseback
riding, the 0.9 mile Lake Katherine Trail is easy to follow, but does
offer a few steep sections. Lake Katherine Trail is difficult for horses.
Lake Katherine Trail is reached by following Lone Pine
Trail. The trail climbs gradually for the first mile along Lone Pine
Creek. Crossing several old avalanche paths, Lake Katherine Trail
continues on to cross Lone Pine Creek. After fording the creek the trail
ascends rapidly. The trail for Lake Katherine leaves the Lone Pine Trail
and crosses the creek. Lake Katherine is a popular destination.

| To reach Lake Katherine Trail,
travel along CR 12W from Highway 125-14 near Walden Colorado and continue
until the pavement ends. Turn left onto CR 16 and pass through Lone Pine
Ranch to the forest boundary. Continue west along FR 640 to the end of the
road.
