Main Fork Encampment Trail #1152

Available for hiking and horseback riding,
the 12.2 mile Main Fork Encampment Trail fords the Encampment River and
enters Mt. Zirkel Wilderness within the 1.5 miles. Traveling along the
Encampment River, Main Fork Encampment Trail passes several old cabins,
and offers plenty of campsites. Plenty of forage for horses is
available in the open meadows, as are panoramic views along the trail.

To reach Main Fork Encampment
Trail, travel west along CR 6W from Cowdrey Colorado past Pearl and turn
left onto CR 6B (FR 80) toward Hog Park Reservoir. Continue west to
Commissary Park. Cross the Encampment River bridge and continue past the
road to the Hog Park Guard station. Turn left onto FR 82 and continue to the
next road to the left (FR 82.1A), which leads to the trailhead. |
