Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland
Available for both snowshoeing & cross country skiing,
the 5.9 mile (South Saint Vrain Trailhead to Brainard Lake) South Saint
Vrain Trail climbs west from CR 96 along South St. Vrain Creek,
sometimes following the creek closely, sometimes circling away from it.
At about 2 miles the trail follows an old road with non-Forest Service
signs to the Stapp Lakes (private property with no public access). After
dropping back down South Saint Vrain Trail crosses Sourdough Trail and
continues along a ridge for about a mile to an intersection with Waldrop
Trail.
