Located within the Dolores Ranger District of
San Juan National Forest, the 9.5 mile Fish Creek Trail is rated
moderate and has a starting elevation of 8,190' (West Fork Road, FDR 535)
and an ending elevation of 10,150' (FDR 404).
Fish Creek Trail follows Fish Creek for 1.5 miles. After
crossing Little Fish Creek the trails begins to skirt Black Mesa. Fish
Creek Trail is a consistent, gentle climb around the Willow Creek and
swings around to the north to the 8.5 mile mark. The trail then climbs out
of the canyon, up the Black Mesa to FDR 404 which will take you to FDR 611
and Dunton.
