Priest Gulch Trail #645

Located within the Dolores Ranger District of San Juan National Forest, the 7.8 mile Priest Gulch Trail rated moderate/difficult and has a starting elevation of 8,000' (Trailhead, Highway 145, across from Priest Gulch Campground) and an ending elevation of 11,320' (junction with Calico Trail).

Priest Gulch Trail is available for hiking, horseback riding, biking and motorcycle (dirt bikes). ATVs are NOT permitted due to the narrow width of the trail.

Priest Gulch Trail climbs in elevation alongside Priest Gulch drainage, passes thru meadows and a forest of spruce, fir, & aspen and ends at the junction with the Calico Trail.

For a 3.5 mile loop, take the Priest Cutoff Trail #201 at mile 1.25 along the Priest Gulch Trail and mile 1.75 on the Lower Calico Trail.

To reach Priest Gulch Trail from Dolores Colorado, travel 25 miles northeast along Highway 145. The trailhead is clearly marked on the north side of the highway.
