Located within the Dolores Ranger District of
San Juan National Forest, the 10 mile West Mancos Trail rated moderate
and has a starting elevation of 8,900' (Transfer Recreation Area) and an
ending elevation of 10,900' (Sharkstooth Trailhead).
West Mancos Trail is located next to the Big Al Trailhead
& Transfer Trailhead. These trails share one trail for the first 0.5 mile.
West Mancos Trail drops down into the West Mancos River Canyon via several
switchbacks. At about 0.5 mile the trail splits with the West Mancos
continuing up river (Transfer Trail traveling down river). |
