Providing access into the northeast side of the Lost Creek Wilderness, the
6.4 mile Rolling Creek Trail, in conjunction with the Colorado Trail, Wigwam
Trail & Goose Creek Trail offer some interesting loops for backpack trips. The
1st section of Rolling Creek Trail, up to the wilderness boundary is gentle and
popular with mountain bikers. Within the Wilderness, mountain bikes are
prohibited.

From the trailhead at the end of the road, the Colorado Trail bears west
(right) while Rolling Creek Trail travels east (left). With only minor up &
downs and a small stream crossing, the first part of the trail is very easy.
After crossing the much larger Rolling Creek, Rolling Creek Trail reaches Lost
Creek Wilderness where the trail enters a tight canyon and becomes very steep.
After climbing out of the canyon, the high point of the trail, a saddle between
the Rolling Creek & Wigwam Creek drainages is reached. From the saddle, Rolling
Creek Trail travels south down into Wigwam Park where it meets the Wigwam Trail.
To reach Rolling Creek Trail from Bailey Colorado, travel east along CR 68
(which becomes FS 560) and go right at the "Y" onto CR 543. Continue along CR
543 for 7.8 miles and park at the small parking area on the south side of the
road, or go right a short distance to the Colorado Trail/Rolling Creek
trailhead.
