Pitkin County Colorado Hiking Trails
Tabor Creek Trail #2185
|
White River National Forest
Traveling to the top of a pass which looks into the basin
of Anderson & Petroleum Lakes, the 3.9 mile Tabor Creek Trail follows an
old jeep trail down to and across Lincoln Creek (no bridge). After
crossing the creek Tabor Creek Trail climbs steeply and crosses a wooden
bridge over an aqueduct in 0.5 mile, after which it becomes more moderate
following the stream through the woods before it crosses and emerges into
a vast open valley. |
|
The valley is often marshy. Cairns
mark the way in the areas where the trail is hard to follow. The last
section is steep climbing to the pass through tundra and then rocks. The
trail here is unmarked.
To reach Tabor Creek Trail from Aspen Colorado, travel east along
Highway 82 for 11 miles to Lincoln Creek Road and turn right. Continue
along Lincoln Creek Road for 4.1 miles to the trailhead on the right. |
