Saddle Trail #1140

Routt National Forest

Available for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, the 1.1 mile Saddle Trail forms a loop when combined with Swamp Park Trail and Red Dirt Trail.

Two access points are available for Saddle Trail:

1. Travel west for Steamboat along US 40 for 2 miles and turn north onto CR 129 (Elk River Road). continue about 5 miles to Mad Creek Trailhead parking on the right. Hike 2 miles up Swamp Park Trail to just before the Mad house guard station and turn left onto Saddle Trail.

2. Travel west of Steamboat along US 40 for about 2 miles and turn north onto CR 129 (Elk River Road). Continue about 7 miles to Red Dirt Trailhead parking lot on the right. Travel 1.5 miles up Red Dirt Trail and turn right Saddle Trail.
