Airline State Park Trail - South
|
Traveling from East Hampton to Willimantic, the South section
of Airline State Park Trail is located in
Hartford,
Middlesex,
New London and
Windham Counties.
Following the bed of the old Air Line Railroad, Airline State
Park Trail - South is 22.4 miles long, and is available for
hiking, biking,
horseback riding and cross country skiing.
To eastern trailhead of Airline State Park Trail - South is
easily accessed at the junction of state routes 207 and 85 in
Colchester Connecticut. Follow Route 2 to Exit 18. Travel along
State Route 14 for 0.5 miles to Route 85 and turn left. Continue
along Route 85 for 4 miles to the parking lot on the left.
To reach the western trailhead of Airline State Park Trail -
South in East Hampton Connecticut, take State Route 2 to Exit 13
and follow State Route 66 for 4 miles and turn left onto State
Route 196/Lakeview Street. Continue along SR 196 for 0.5 miles
and turn left onto Flanders Road. Travel along Flanders Road for
0.25 mile and turn right onto Smith Street. Follow Smith Street
to the trailhead on the left.
