Mauna Kea State Recreation Area, Hawaii State Parks

Located within Mauna Kea Forest Reserve in Hawaii County Hawaii, the 20.5 acre Mauna Kea State Recreation Area is at an elevation of 6,500' and offers excellent views of Mauna Kea & Mauna Loa. A variety of recreational opportunities including camping, picnic facilities, star gazing and lodging (cabin rentals).

Mauna Kea State Recreation Area is located on Saddle Road (Highway 200), 35 miles west of downtown Hilo, Hawaii.

Note: Car rental companies may prohibit or impose conditions for use of their vehicles on Saddle Road).
