| Climbing gradually from Forest Service Road
283 (Indian Grave Gap Road) to the Appalachian Trail on the side of
Rocky Mountain, the 1 mile Rocky Mountain Trail is marked with a blue
blaze and rated moderate. A 3.5 mile loop is possible by combining the
Appalachian Trail, Rocky Mountain Trail and FR 283.
To reach Rocky Mountain Trail from
Helen Georgia, travel north along GA 75 for 11.4 miles and turn
right onto Indian Grave Gap Road (FR 283). Continue along FR 283 for 2
miles (0.5 miles past
High Shoals Trail parking area) to the limited parking at the
trailhead. Additional parking is available up the road to Indian Grave
Gap, where the AT crosses the road. |
