East Fork Trail

| Located within the Andrew Pickens Ranger
District of Sumter
National Forests, the 2.5 mile East Fork Trail travels along the north
bank of the east fork of the Chattooga River. Rated easy, East Fork Trail
offers 2 trailheads; one at the Chattooga Picnic Area, adjacent to
Walhalla Fish Hatchery and one at Burrells Ford.
Primitive camping is allowed along East Fork Trail. Campsites
must be greater than 50' from the trail and streams, and greater than 0.25
mile from roads. |

| To reach the Chattooga Picnic Area
from Walhalla South Carolina, travel northwest along SC 28 for 7.5 miles
to SC 107 and bear right. Continue along SC 107 for 12 miles to Fish
Hatchery Road and turn left. Travel along Fish Hatchery Road to the picnic
area. The east trailhead of East Fork Trail is located at the bridge.
To reach Burrells Ford from Walhalla, travel west along SC 28 for 7.5
miles to SC 107 and bear right. Continue along SC 107 for 10 miles to
Burrells Ford Road and turn left. Travel along Burrells Ford Road to the
sign indicating Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area on the Chattooga Trail. Hike
along Chattooga Trail for 2.1 miles to the west trailhead of East Fork
Trail. |
