Available for both hiking and
horseback riding, the 6 mile Mt. Sterling Ridge Trail descends 900'.
After descending steady from Mt. Sterling Firetower to Pretty Hollow
Gap, Mt Sterling Ridge Trail climbs steeply out of the gap and follows
the ridge to Laurel Gap.
To reach Mt. Sterling Ridge Trail from
Cove Creek North Carolina, travel north along Little Cove Road (NC
1331) and travel 1.3 miles to Old NC 284 (NC 1395) and turn right.
Continue along NC 1395 for 1.1 miles from the ranger station.
