Garrett County, the 54,000 acres Savage River State Forest is the
largest State Forest in Maryland. With more than 12,000 acres designated
as Wildlands, Savage River State Forest offers a variety of recreational
opportunities including hiking, biking, cross country skiing, horseback
riding, 4x4 trails, snowmobiling, boat launch, flat & whitewater
canoeing, hunting,
camping, and picnicking.
