Cherokee County North Carolina Bike Trails
Ramsey Connector Trail
|
Part of the
Ramsey Bluff Mountain Bike System, the 1.9 mile Ramsey Connector Trail
is available for hikers and bikers. Located within Hanging
Dog Recreation Area, Ramsey Connector Trail travels from the parking area
above the boat ramp and travels mostly down, crossing Hanging Dog Campground
Road. After crossing the road Ramsey Connector Trail travels through a small
wet section, before splitting. Each split in the trail travels to at least 2
(or more) other splits. At each junction of the trail markers are available,
ALL with the same trail going in every directions. Ramsey Connector Trail,
although a great trail, is the most confusing trail I have ever hiked.
Carefully look at each junction to insure you do not get turned around. It
would be awful to spend several hours on a 1.9 mile trail going around in
circles. |

The other end of Ramsey Connector Trail is located along Ramsey Bend Boat
Ramp Road. If hiking from the parking area, you may, upon reaching Ramsey
Bend Boat Ramp (not the same boat ramp as the start of the trail), you may
cross the road and begin Ramsey Bend
North Trail, or return the way you came, or turn left, following the
road back down hill to Hanging Dog Campground Road. Upon reaching Hanging
Dog Campground Road, turn left to return to the parking area.
Hanging Dog Recreational Area may be reached by traveling along Joe
Brown Highway (NC 1326) from Murphy for 5 miles. Turn left at the Hanging
Dog Recreation Area Sign.
