Mount Jefferson State Natural Area

Located within Ashe County North Carolina, the 541 acre Mount Jefferson State Natural Area was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1975 and offers 2 hiking trails and 26 picnic tables with 9 grills.

The park has one main road which leads to the peak of Mount Jefferson. Mount Jefferson rises to more than 1.600' above the surrounding area and provides great views.
To reach Mount Jefferson State Natural Area from Jefferson, travel south 2.3 miles along US221 to Mount Jefferson State Park Road (SR 1152).
