the 1855 acre Mount Mitchell State Park is home to the highest point
east of the Mississippi, Mount Mitchell (elevation 6,684'). In addition
to the great views, Mount Mitchell State Park offers educational and
interpretive programs, picnicking camping, an education center, exhibit
hall, visitor facilities, gift shop, restaurant and hiking.
Mount Mitchell State Park is located 33 miles north of
Asheville North Carolina off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker
