New Echota Historic Site

Located within
Gordon County Georgia, New Echota Historic Site was the site of
the Cherokee Indian capital, which was established in 1825 by the
Cherokee National Legislature. Today, New Echota Historic Site offers
visitors the opportunity to see 12 original and reconstructed
buildings, including the Council House, Court House, Print Shop,
Missionary Samuel Worcester's home and an 1805 store. Outbuildings
including a smoke house, born cribs, and barns are also available.

In addition to it's historic value, New Echota Historic Site offers a
visitors center, gift shop, self-guided tour, Coosawattee River Fishing
and boat ramp, and a 1 mile nature trail.
New Echota Historic Site is located 1 mile east of I-75, exit #317
along GA 225.
