Alabama Hills Recreation Management Area
 

Receiving it's name from the Confederate warship, the 30,000 acre Alabama Hills Recreation Management Area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Serving as the location for many movies and television shows, especially westerns, Alabama Hills Recreation Management Area offers several recreational opportunities including hiking, camping, off-highway vehicle travel, rock climbing and photography. Alabama Hills Recreation Management Area is located within Inyo County.

To reach Alabama Hills Recreation Management Area from Lone Pine California, turn off US 395 onto Whitney Road and travel east for about 1 mile to the visitor information pull-off where information and maps are available.
