Nantahala National Forest
The Santeetlah Creek Camp Area contains many camp sites maintained
by the U.S. Forest Service. Most are within a few feet of the creek. This
is an area of National Forest that joins the Joyce Kilmer Wilderness.
Seasonal hunting, fishing, along with annual hiking and camping are the
primary uses for this area.
Directions:
Santeetlah Creek Camp Area is located about 13 miles from Robbinsville
in the western part of Graham County. From Robbinsville, take Highway 129
North for 1½ miles to the junction with Highway 143 West (Massey Branch
Road). Follow Highway 143 and the signs for the Cherohala Skyway.

At Santeetlah Gap turn right onto Joyce Kilmer Road. Continue about 25
feet and turn left onto Forest Service Road 81. Continue on this gravel
road for access to the campgrounds along Santeetlah Creek and interior
trail heads for Stratton Bald, Stratton Meadows, Stewart Cabin, Swan
Cabin, Swan Meadows, and junctions with Naked Ground Trail and Slickrock
Trail.
