One of 6 designated back-country campsites located along
The Sand Ramp Trail, Aspen is located 6.7 miles from Piñon Flats
campground (5.7 miles from Point of No Return). This is the highest and
coldest of the back country sites, sitting at an elevation of 9,240 feet
above sea level. The Aspen back-country campsite offers incredible views.
Directions:
Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located 35 miles northeast of
Alamosa, Colorado, reached by US Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 150 from
the south. or from Colorado Highway 17 and County Six Mile Lane from the
west.
