One of 6 designated back-country campsites located along
The Sand Ramp Trail, Sand Creek is located 11.5 miles from Piñon Flats
campground (10.5 from Point of No Return). Situated in a grove of cottonwood
trees on the very edge of the dune mass.
Directions:
Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located 35 miles northeast of
Alamosa, Colorado, reached by US Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 150 from
the south. or from Colorado Highway 17 and County Six Mile Lane from the
west.
