Located within the Pagosa Ranger District of
San Juan National Forest, the 7.5 mile (to Continental Divide
south of Summit Peak) Quartz Creek Trail has a starting elevation of
8,960' and an ending elevation of 12,200'.
To reach Quartz Creek Trail travel northeast along US 160 for 9.5
miles and turn right onto East Fork Road (FDR 667). Continue along FDR
667 for 8 miles and turn right onto FDR 684. Continue 1.5 miles to the
trailhead which involves fording the East Fork, which at times may
require 4WD.
