The only public access into Picket Wire Canyonlands, Withers Canyon Trail
is open to hiking, bicycles and horseback riding.
From the Withers Canyon Trailhead parking loop, Withers Canyon Trail
travels east-northeast to a brown pipe gate, after which the trail descends
250' in elevation into Withers Canyon. The trail then follows a dirt
two-track road (east) into Picket Wire Canyon. After reaching Picket Wire
Canyon, the trail turns south/southwest and travels up canyon.

Withers Canyon Trailhead to River: 1.0 mile
Withers Canyon Trailhead to Cemetery: 3.7 miles
Withers Canyon Trailhead to Tracksite: 5.3 miles
Withers Canyon Trailhead to Rourke Ranch: 8.7 miles
To reach Withers Canyon Trailhead from La Junta Colorado, travel 13 miles
couth along Highway 109 and turn right (west) onto David Canyon Road (CR
802) and travel 8 miles to CR 25. Turn south (left) onto CR 25 and continue
6 miles and turn left at Picket Wire Corrals onto FR 500A. Travel along FR
500A for 3 miles, following the signs to Withers Canyon Trailhead.
From Springfield Colorado travel 48 miles west along Highway 160 and
turn north (right) onto Highway 109. Travel 43 mils along Highway 109 and
turn left (west) onto CR 802 (David Canyon Road) and continue for 8 miles.
Turn left (south) on CR 25 and continue for 6 miles. Turn left at Picket
Wire Corrals onto FR 500A and continue for 3 miles, following signs to
Withers Canyon Trailhead.
