Grasslands, National Forest in Colorado
Located in the Clear Creek Area of the Leadville Ranger District, the
4.2 mile Mt. Belford Trail offers an elevation gain of 4,600'. From
Leadville Colorado, travel south along US 24 to Clear Creek Reservoir.
Travel west along Chaffee County Road 390 for 8 miles and watch for the
Missouri Gulch Trailhead on the southside of the road. |
|
Follow the Missouri Gulch for 2
miles, then follow the northwest ridge to the right (southwest) of the
prominent couloir.
From Mt. Belford's summit, Mt. Oxford is 1 mile to the northeast, via a
climber's trail, with a 700' loss of elevation.
From Oxford, do not descend northwest into Belford Gulch as this will
lead to a steep, treacherous gully. Backtrack over Belford and follow the
ascent route down. |
