Located within
Castle Peak Wilderness Study Area, Dotsero Ute Trail climbs
from the Colorado River at Dotsero to the Flat Tops. Offering
panoramic views, Dotsero Ute Trail was used by the Ute Indians
until the late 1800's for access the Flat Tops to the Meeker
area, and later by prospectors to access the Caronate mining
area during the early 1900's silver rush. The 3 mile Dotsero Ute
Trail provides access to several trails and is available for
hiking, mountain biking and
horseback riding.To reach Dotsero Ute Trail from I-70 take the Dotsero exit and
travel north along Colorado River Road (Eagle County 301) for
0.5 miles to the trailhead along the west side.
