Located within
Curecanti National Recreation Area, the 4.0 mile (round trip)
strenuous, Curecanti Creek Trail descends from the rim of the Upper Black
Canyon of the Gunnison then follows Curecanti Creek. The 700 ft. granite
spire Curecanti Needle towers above at the end of Curecanti Creek Trail.
Travel along Curecanti Creek Trail provides an elevation change of 900
feet.
Directions:
Curecanti Creek Trail's trailhead at Pioneer Point overlook is located
off Hwy 92, 5.7 miles from the junction of Hwy 92/50.
