Pike & San Isabel National Forest, Cimarron & Comanche National Grasslands, National Forest in Colorado

Located in the Fairplay Area of the South Park Ranger District, Mosquito Pass offers rugged, high terrain and is accessible only in the mid-summer months. Mosquito Pass is rated moderate to difficult, high clearance. 4WD is recommended. The highest pass in Colorado, Mosquito Pass is at an elevation of 13,186'.

To reach Mosquito pass from Fairplay Colorado travel along Highway 9 for 4 miles to Mosquito Gulch Road (CR 12). Stay on this road to the top of the pass. On the west side of the pass the road turns into FDR 438 and drops down into the town of Leadville.
