Animas River Drainage
Located within the Columbine Ranger District of
San Juan National Forest, the 4.5 mile Deer Creek Trail #678 is rated
most difficult and receives light use. Deer Creek Trail begins at an
elevation of 9,800' (U.S. 550) and an ending elevation of 11,200'
(Junction with Coal Creek).
Deer Creek Trail offers excellent views of the West Needle
Mountains and provides access to several trails including the Coal Creek
Trail and Engineer Mountain Trail
