Haleakala National Park

Haleakala National Park

Stretching from the summit of Mt. Haleakala eastward to the southeast coast of Maui, the 28,655 acre Haleakala National Park was designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980.

Haleakala National Park is divided into 2 sections: the summit area which includes Haleakala Crater and the coastal Kipahulu area which includes Waimoku Falls.

Both sections of Haleakala National Park can be reached by road from Kabului, however no roads connect the two sections.

To reach the summit area of Haleakala National Park from Kahului Hawaii (Maui), travel Route 37 to 377, to 378. Driving time is about 1.5 hours.

To reach the coastal area (Kipahulu) of Haleakala National Park from Kahului via Route 36 to 360 to 31. Driving time is about 3 hours.
