The Sugar Mountain Trail, which is a Monroe County Tennessee Hiking Trail, is an easy drive from Andrews or Murphy, North Carolina in Cherokee County.

Length: 6.0  miles
Rating: Strenuous

This is a challenging hike, with some steep slopes.

Directions from Tellico Plains Tennessee:

Take 165 toward Robbinsville, North Carolina. This trail begins from the Tellico River Road (210) near Pheasant Field Fishing Site and goes to Tipton Knob Road (24) near Little Bald. Trailhead parking is available at Pheasant Fields.
