Follow Bear woods Road for about a mile. After .75 mile, the road
splits. Follow the road to the right. The road leads to a gated open
field. Walk around this gate on the right and stay close to the woods on
the right. About 50 feet inside the gate, the trail cuts into the woods on
the right. A carsonite sign here marks Devil's Creek Trail, and white
blazes begin. Follow this fairly level trail that swings in and out around
the flanks of Flattop Mountain.

This trail provides access to the community of Lost Cove, developed in the
1900's for the establishment of the CC Railroad. Once the railroad was
completed, most settlers remained to remove timber from the surrounding
area.
The community had a school, church, grist mill, and several
homes. After the timber was removed, many inhabitants remained as
farmers and small timber operators. The only access into this
community was by foot or rail. The town is currently deserted, but
several buildings remain. It should be noted that these buildings
are not along the trail, but they can be accessed from this trail.
No camp sites exist along this trail.
Directions:
