Yancey County North Carolina Hiking Trails

Roaring Fork Creek Falls Trail

Length: 0.7 miles
Rating: Easy

Follow old FR 5520. You will pass two old concrete storage facilities on your right. An old old road intersects FR 5520 on the right, but stay straight. Come to an open area where you will see a wooden bridge and a carsonite sign indicating the Roaring Fork Creek Falls Trail. This trail leaves the road and goes about 100 yards into the woods following Roaring Fork Creek. It terminates at the beautiful falls. Large granite boulders surround the trail's end.

Directions:

From Burnsville go east on US 19E for about 4.3 miles to an access road to NC 80. Turn right, go for .6 mile and turn right again on NC 80. Follow this road for 11.6 miles to the Mt Mitchell Golf Course and turn right on Forest Service Road 472. Proceed for 100 ft. to a stop sign. Take a right then take the first left off this road. (a sign for "Roaring Fork Creek Falls" is at the turn). Follow this road to the trailhead on your right which is the old Forest Service Road 5520.
