Beginning with a slight climb from Cabin No. 9 within
Holly River State Park,
the 0.75 mile Salt Lick Trail travels around the mountain through a
young forested area and leads to some of the oldest and largest trees on the
park.
This easy trail descends to the island in the Picnic Area and ends
at the Campground. (Note: The
salt licks along trail, hence the name).
Directions:
Holly River State Park is located on WV 20, 32 miles south of Buckhannon
and 20 miles north of Webster Springs. Interstate 79 running north/south
through central West Virginia offers access to WV 20 at several points.
