Sandy Ford Trail

Located within Sumter National Forest, the 0.3
mile Sandy Ford Trail descends moderately steep to reach the rapids of the
Chattooga River. Several footbridges over mountain streams are found along
the Sandy Ford Trail.
To reach the Sandy Ford Trail from Walhalla South Carolina travel
northwest on SC 28 to Whetstone Road (193). Turn left onto Whetstone
Road and travel 5.0 miles, cross Chattooga Ridge Road (196). After
passing Chattooga Ridge Road, Whetstone becomes Earls Ford Road. |

Continue 3.0 miles and turn left onto FS 721A. Continue along FS
721A for 1.5 miles (This narrow, winding dirt road may be
challenging in wet weather.)to the trail parking area on the left at
the end of the road.
