Located within
the Saint Mary's Wilderness section of
George Washington and Jefferson National Forests the 3 mile Cellar
Mountain Trail is rated moderate.
Beginning/ending at an elevation of around
2,000' at the parking area off of Coal Road (FDR 42), Cellar
Mountain Trails travels through woods and climbs steeply to
around 2,600' where it offers views of the southwest. Continuing
up switchbacks, Cellar Mountain Trail reaches an elevation of
around 3,200' before reaching it's end/beginning at a parking
area along FS 162A.
Cellar Mountain Trail is a side trail of the
Saint Mary’s Trail which is
located along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
To reach Cellar Mountain Trail, travel South
along I-85 to the Raphine exit and turn east onto Route 56.
Follow Route 56 to the next left and turn left onto VA 608.
Travel along VA 608 to the next right and turn onto Route 41.
Follow Route 41 for about a mile and turn left onto Route 42.
Continue along Route 42 for 1.5 miles, Cellar Mountain Trail
will be on the right.
