Red Fox Trail
George Washington and Jefferson National Forests
The easy, 1.0 mile Red Fox Trail is an historical trail, with
Interpretive Signs placed at various locations along the trail telling the
story of the Killing Rock and the Ambush there. Red Fox Trail travels
under a canopy of hardwoods, hemlocks and rhododendron. The trail is in an
old wagon roadbed that accessed Kentucky from Virginia.
Red Fox Trailhead is about 300 feet to the left down the gated road; a
sign stands at the beginning of the Red Fox Trail.
Red Fox Trail ends at the Killing Rock where you will have to retrace
your steps back to the beginning.
