Located within
Fayette
and
Nicholas County West Virginia, Gauley River National Recreation Area
is home to 25 miles of free-flowing Gauley River and 6 miles of the
Meadow River as they travel through scenic gorges and valleys. Offering
several class V+ rapids, Gauley River becomes one of the most popular
whitewater rafting runs during the fall drawdown of Summersville Lake.
In addition to whitewater rafting, the National Park Service offers
primitive camping just below Summersville Dam. |
