The Brookfield Horse Trail system has about 130 miles of
trail and is one of the most extensive ski trail systems in the northeast.
Parts of it are quite hilly, so this is not suitable for beginners. About
20 miles of the route is unplowed forest roads that are nice and wide,
although some of them are fairly steep and you can build up a good speed
going down them. Some of the smaller trails are narrow and very steep and
quite difficult.
Hikers and cross-country skiers, as well as equestrians
and snowmobilers, are welcome on the trails. The trails are identified on
the map and on the ground by horse trail signs and numbers. You can expect
to encounter interesting terrain with many different plants and wildlife
species.
