Designed for campers or picnickers with horses,
the 7 site Backbone Horse Campground is open year round, but only to campers
with horses from Memorial Day weekend to Columbus Day weekend.
The Backbone Horse Campground sites are large enough for horse
trailers. Each site offers a corral adjacent to the campsites and tie post
for the horses.
A water pond for livestock is available.
To reach Backbone Trail from Watkins Glen New York turn right onto NY
414 North, at the Forth Street intersection travel 9.0 miles north past
the Hector Ranger Station (on right). Turn right onto Schuyler County
Route 2 and continue 3.5 miles east. Backbone Campground is on the left,
opposite the intersection with Burnt Hill Road. |
