Traveling 559 miles the main Finger Lakes Trail
connects the Catskills with the Allegheny Mountains. This 4.0 mile portion
of the Finger Lakes Trail is also part of the North Country Trail and is
primitive in nature with a natural tread and boardwalk over wet areas. An
"Adirondack" style shelter is available for camping on a first come-first
served basis.
Skiers use caution between Burnt Hill Road and CR 4 as there are steep
downhill runs.
To reach Finger Lakes Trail from Watkins Glen New York, turn right onto
NY 414 north. At the Fourth Street intersection go about 9 miles north and
turn right on Mathews Road 0.5 mile before the Hector Ranger Station.
Travel 1.5 miles east to the Satterly Hill Road, turn right and follow it
for 3 miles to the Finger Lakes Trail sign on the east side of the road. |
